International School of Volcanology - First Circular
The Italian Association of Volcanology (AIV) and the Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) in collaboration with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and the Laboratory of Experimental Geophysics at the University of Florence (LGS) organize an International School of Volcanology at the Aeolian Islands (Southern Italy) on June 17-24, 2023 with the following theme:
“Working on active volcanoes: learning the tools of modern Volcanology - Field observations, data acquisition, reporting and response”
Target of the International School will be Master’s Students, Graduate Students and Early Career Scientists, especially those with observatory experience (for a maximum of 25 participants as a whole).
The school is organized with short lectures and field applications. The school is strongly field-based, where lectures and discussion on volcano dynamics, and the use of the instruments, will be made in a hands-on manner rather than in theory. Multiparametric experiments and outcrop observations will be carried out during the school and used to support learning through implementation. Base of the school will be at Lipari, with measurement trips at Vulcano and Stromboli.
It is expected to have full board to be borne by the school, although this will depend on the final number of students.
